Using Magic Mushrooms: Some Warnings to Note

Knowledge is power, especially the information regarding something we introduce to our bodies. Psilocybin mushrooms; psychedelic mushrooms; magic mushrooms; sacred mushrooms; shrooms… there are so many words for mushrooms which hold psychoactive powers – or rather, mushrooms which affect our minds. Humanity has used these for tens or thousands of years, but only after the mid ‘50s were they rediscovered by the Western world, after being forgotten for centuries.

If you want to know all about these extraordinary fruits of nature, you have only two options:

  • Personally researching on the internet for years
  • Acquiring the one and only book dedicated exclusively to magic mushrooms

The Magic Mushroom User’s Guide is the first book in which you will find all the information necessary: from how to take the mushrooms at the right dosage, to the substances containing psilocybin and how to use these on your inner quest. In that book you will find everything on what to do, and what not to do, to ensure complete peace of mind.

DM Tripson published his first short stories at the age of 15, sure that he would soon become a writer, but after a few decades spent doing something else he had given up. One day he discovered magic mushrooms, an extraordinary encounter of the kind that changes your life, in fact it is only with their help that he was able to write three books and dozens of posts on this blog!

  1. I choose to dispense my cultivars (cubensis) fresh and not dried. If 1/8th oz is the typical increment for exchanges in the desiccated state, what would be the differential in their fresh (wet) state?

    1. Hi Richy, fresh mushrooms probably contain a greater amount of psilocin, a component that is more sensitive to temperature and therefore partially degrades during the drying process. Therefore, proportionally fresh mushrooms are considered a little more potent. What is 3.5 dry grams (1 / 8th oz) if you want to eat them fresh? In my opinion about thirty fresh grams, maybe even a little less.

  2. Hi, I’m wondering how often it’s okay to do higher doses? I’ve read something about once a week I think because it takes that long for the bodies receptors to clear. I don’t want to waste the mushrooms by doing them too close together and not getting any benefit. Thank you for your help

    1. Hi Colleen, the normal time to clean the receptors is a week, so you waste mushrooms if you use them more frequently and I don’t think that’s the case for you. All the best!

  3. Dear DM Tripson, great article, and an urgent question- can you store a lemon tek / mushroom tea / in refrigerator? For how long?

    1. Hi Riina, lemon teak and mushroom tea are two different preparations. Tea is kept cool, some blog readers have written and say it can be done, but lemon teak has a difference that makes it necessary to consume it quickly. Lemon acid converts stable psilocybin to unstable psilocin, which degrades easily. For this reason I say that lemon teak is difficult to keep for a long time. I have never done the tests, but I believe that this hypothesis is well founded. Good luck 🙂

  4. Hello dear mr. Tripson,

I’ve been reading your book and been really enjoying its amazing structure and contents. First of all I wanted to apologize about not buying your precious work as I’m living in Iran and have no access to money transactions with online shops such as Amazon etc., I feel sort of guilty about that and willing to hear you forgive me.
I’m reaching you to express my gratitude and humbly ask you to send me the playlist you mentioned in your fantastic book.
I have done my first experience with 0.7 grams of Psilocybe Cubensis “Albino Penis Envy” before reading the book, but I did it after lots of research. After starting the book, I realized it is telling me the exact same things I have found out during the years of asking and searching for an answer and I’m willing to start doing practices for awakening which is my ultimate goal.
By the way, Gmail server seems to have problems with your Gmail address provided in the book.

    Wish you a happy life,
-Pouria (another Drop who’s trying to discover it is the Ocean! 🙂)

    1. Hi Pouria, I welcome your unnecessary apology, the situation you are experiencing in Iran is a force majeure, with my heart I am close to you and your great people.
Thank you for your appreciation of the book, I am very happy that in my text you were able to find what you had discovered during your research and especially during your first experience. You have grasped the most important message that I would like to get across from my book: mushrooms are a wonderful tool to help you understand what it means to “be present” and to have an “open heart,” the basis on which awakening arises. I wish you all the best 🙂

  5. I was wondering if fresh mushrooms can be used in a tea as I am a newbie and was considering the golden teacher variety. I am considering growing them but HATE the taste of mushrooms. And what dose would you recommend. Thanks for your time.

    1. Dear Lori, fresh mushrooms only keep in the refrigerator for 3-4 days-that is the first piece of information to consider. I would recommend drying them so you can decide to use them whenever you want and not necessarily within a short time after harvest. You make me think I should write a post on drying techniques, but in the meantime consider this: oven, preferably ventilated, temperature no higher than 60 C°, place them on baking paper resting on a rack and leave the oven door half open. Check them often and when they are so dry that as soon as you try to fold them they break, at that time–not before–they are ready, if you put them in an airtight container (no moisture should get in) then they will keep for a long time. With dried mushrooms follow the instructions and it will be fine. But if you want to make the tea with fresh mushrooms you will have the problem of a larger amount of mushroom to handle, the amounts of water I indicate may not be enough to extract the active ingredient well, and also with a larger amount of mushroom the water would cool sooner and make the extraction less efficient.
I forgot that you are a beginner, you may not know that fresh mushrooms contain over 90% water! For the first time I recommend starting with 1.5 grams of well-dried mushroom, but if you have fresh mushrooms on hand the amount in this case will be about 10 times as much, i.e., 15 grams fresh (even 12-13 grams is fine because fresh is normally a bit more potent than the equivalent dried amount).
In conclusion: if you have to use fresh mushrooms increase the amount of water and the size of the containers you have to use, cut them into small pieces so as to increase water contact and extraction of the active ingredient, for the rest you can do as described in the instructions which you can read in my post devoted to magic mushroom tea. If you can, dry them, if not, try it this way, if you let me know I’ll be glad. Best wishes! 🙂
